The palace from the baroque era has a major urbanistic and semetric meaning because it finalizes the Bonifatiusplatz (bonifatius square) at its most northern angle and serves as a counterpoint for the Buttlar palace at the same time. The palace was originally built in 1731/32 for baron Philipp von Buseck and his wife. From 1802 to 1814 Adalbert von Harstall, the last prince-bishop -disposed from his office - occupied the palace. From 1832 to 2006 the building was occupied by the protestant convent of nunnery: Wallenstein.
